A concept map will help you to cluster ideas on a research topic. Begin with a central idea, for example:
multiculturalism
- Write down this idea or the central topic
- Jot down what you already know about the topic
- Ask yourself questions about what you need to learn
- who, what, where, why, and when
- Write the answers to those questions around the central topic
- Cluster related ideas
In this example, we have identified many different aspects of multiculturalism. We decided that multiculturalism and schools would make an interesting topic.
