Knowing When to Stop
An important aspect of doing library research is knowing when to stop. For many research projects, the search for materials could continue indefinitely but you will have to complete your work at some point and turn it in for a grade.
You can stop when:
- you start finding references to the same sources
- every source you find restates the same information
Now you are ready to write your paper
- Review your notes
- Organize your paper
- Create an outline
- Cite your sources
What we're NOT going to talk about, but you must do:
- Draw your own conclusions from the information you found
- Writing the paper
