Event in the Library | Thurs. Apr. 18, 2009 4:00-5:00 p.m. McKillop Library |
On Thursday, April 16, 2009, from 4-5 p.m., a section of McKillop library will become a small theater. The program will feature Patricia A. Hawkridge, Chairperson of Salve Regina University's Department of Theatre Arts, who will be performing a variety of characters. In addition she will explain what is involved in the actor's challenge of releasing the text to the audience--creating a character from page to stage-- and the inside-out and the outside-in approaches to acting.
Patricia Hawkridge has extensive experience as an actor, director, teacher, acting coach, and vocal consultant. Her research interests are about the healing properties of sound - specifically vocal sound, and
the possible healing and/or life-altering effects of hard-hitting contemporary dramatic literature for the actors who play the roles.
A reception will follow the program. The event is free and open to the public.
