On Display in the Library
An Abraham Lincoln exhibit in the foyer of McKillop Library will be on display until the beginning of fall semester 2009. The exhibit includes books, memorabilia, photographs, and facsimiles of the "Emancipation Proclamation" and the New York Herald news account of the assassination which reached the Herald in time to make the first edition the morning after. The majority of these materials are from the collection of Commander Wayne Rowe, USN Retired, who is currently the Head of Reference at the Naval War College Library and is married to Cathy Rowe, Reference and Instructional Services Coordinator at Salve Regina.
The Civil War has been one of Wayne's life-long interests. He is a past President of the Rhode Island Civil War Round Table and the current Commanding Officer of a Civil War re-enactment artillery company. The exhibit was previously on display at the War College to commemorate Lincoln's 200th birthday.
