Librarians' Collection of Crèches

Creches in library foyer
Featured crèche by Alice Rowe
In the foyer of McKillop Library are two displays of traditional holiday decorations and related books. In one case are several crèches along with scenes of the nativity in art. Crèche, the French word for crib, has come to mean a representation of the stable at Bethlehem with the infant Jesus surrounded by Mary, Joseph, oxen, asses, sheep, adoring shepherds and magi. The crèches belong to several Salve Regina University librarians. The other case features Hanukkah and Kwanza. The displays will remain until the end of the holiday season.
