On Display in the Library
European Travel Guidebooks from the Special Collections
Guidebooks are distinct from travel narratives, which are popular with armchair adventurers. The guides tell you where to go and why, as illustrated through sample volumes from the library's Special Collections. This exhibit, installed in the library's first floor display cases in August 2011, shows the history of European guidebook publishing from the ubiquitous Baedecker guides to titles from the 1960s and 1970s.
The University Archives and Special Collections are located on the ground level of McKillop Library in Room 023. For access to the materials, please contact Maria Bernier, Archivist and Special Collections Librarian, at 401-341-2276 or firstname.lastname@example.org
