McKillop Library is an active, comfortable space that encourages students to explore, create and collaborate in a technology-rich environment.

Space

  • Over 70,000 total square feet
  • 3 technology-equipped study rooms and an individual study cube, which can be reserved online
  • Combined total of over 250 seats in a mixture of configurations to accommodate individual and group study
  • Silent floor (3rd FL) with individual study carrels
  • Collaborative study areas with moveable whiteboards
  • Curriculum Resource Center for Education majors
  • Makerspace (2nd FL) for crafting and creativity
  • Provides an all-purpose meeting place plus exhibits, displays and events
  • McKillop Café featuring full Starbucks menu and comfortable seating areas

Resources & Technology

  • 48 PC and 16 Mac desktop workstations preloaded with software (see below for software list)
  • 5 network printers with scan-to-email, double-sided and color printing features. Wireless printing also available from laptops and mobile devices at https://printing.salve.edu/myprintcenter/
  • Wireless access throughout the building (Salve students, faculty and staff should connect to the "Community" network)
  • Access to the libraries’ physical collections and services
  • Microfilm reader (2nd FL)
  • PC with Kurzweil document/screen reading software (1stFL)

The library has 48 PCs and 16 Macs available for use by Salve students, faculty and staff. Below is a list of commonly used software installed on the PCs and Macs in the library.

The library also offers a number of gadgets, games and other items for check-out, like device/laptop chargers, presentation remotes, bakeware, small desk fans and more (click for full list). Just ask at the front Circulation desk (1st FL)!

Note that the library desktop PCs do have DVD drives but will not play Blu-Ray discs. Study rooms 217 and 304 have Blu-Ray drives.

Three pods of 4 PCs -- two located at the rear of the DVD side 1st FL and one pod on the rear CafEé side -- each have duplicates of Lab 005 and 006 software, as listed below:

  • Microsoft Project On rear right pod of DVD side, duplicate of Lab 006, only
  • ProSeries (Intuit)
  • QuickBooks Premier
  • TexMaker

Due to limited licensing, ArcGis Desktop software is only available on 20 of the computers in Lab 006 (Garden Level).

Citrix nursing software is not available on library or lab computers; please download to your personal laptop/computer/device (see the Help Desk on the Garden Level with questions).
