Message from the Director

Dear Faculty,

As part of our contingency planning in the event of a suspension of face-to-face classes, the library staff is equipped, trained, and ready to support you and your students in conducting research online. We are also able to continue to offer some library special events via Webex if you would like to use class time this way. library contigency plan

Virtual services available from the library if you would like to assign independent research projects to finish out the semester:

  • If you have items on physical reserve that you have assigned to students, contact your liaison to investigate whether the library can purchase licensing to access the material online.
  • Synchronous research instruction via Webex. Librarians schedule the session, and faculty members send the link to students and attend the session to provide clarification and answer assignment-specific questions.
  • Library chat embedded in the Research & Writing tab on Canvas in all classes.
  • One-on-one research consults via phone, chat, or videoconference; button to schedule appointments is in the Research & Writing tab on Canvas in all classes.
  • Create course and assignment-specific online research guides, including video instruction for specific projects.
  • Fulfill interlibrary loan requests for articles.
  • Place PDFs and links to electronic library resources on reserve and embed in Canvas in the Research & Writing tab.
